SEVENTEEN Jun Takes on a Gang Member Role in a Crime Thriller Movie
Jun of SEVENTEEN is set to make his mark on the big screen, starring alongside legendary action star Jackie Chan in the highly participated Chinese crime thriller movie ‘THE SHADOW EDGE’.

A Glimpse Into ‘THE SHADOW’S EDGE’
According to Korean media reports, the 28-year-old idol, whose real name is Wen Junhui, will portray Hu Feng, a gang member with a dark and troubled past. Jackie Chan, on the other hand, steps into the role of a veteran detective on a mission to dismantle a powerful criminal syndicate.
Directed by Larry Yang, best known for ‘Ride On‘, the film dives into the high-stakes battle between a notorious criminal syndicate and a determined police force.
Although the official trailer and exact release date are yet to be announced, ‘THE SHADOW’S EDGE’ is expected to hit theaters later this year, sparking excitement among CARATs, SEVENTEEN fans and critics alike.
SEVENTEEN Jun’s Acting Journey: From Child Star to Rising Talent
Before debuting as a member of SEVENTEEN in 2015, Jun had already made a name for himself as a child actor in China, appearing in numerous TV dramas and films.
His breakthrough came in 2007 with the film ‘The Pye-Dog’, where he starred alongside Hong Kong singer Eason Chan. Notably, his compelling performance as a traumatised child with learning difficulties, clinched him the Silver award for Best New Actor at the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild Awards. Plus, Jun was also the first Chinese child actor nominated for Best New Performer at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2008.
Jun also portrayed as the young Ip Man in ‘The Legend Is Born: Ip Man‘ (2010), a film about the famed martial arts practitioner.
Most recently, Jun won the Rising Star of the Year honour at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, held during the 2023 Busan International Film Festival, for his role in the Chinese youth romance series ‘Exclusive Fairy Tale‘ ‘(2023).
Jun’s Solo Pursuits in His Hometown, China
This film marks a significant milestone for Jun, who is currently on hiatus from SEVENTEEN to pursue solo opportunities in China. Pledis Entertainment announced his temporary absence in August 2024, explaining that it was a mutual decision made after discussions with Jun and his fellow SEVENTEEN members.
While the ‘K-pop’s Performance Powerhouse and Self-Producing Idols’ SEVENTEEN continues their ‘[RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR’ with upcoming stops including the Singapore’s National Stadium this 25th and 26th January, Jun is forging his own path on the big screen. Due to his acting commitments, he will not be participating in the tour.
