Labubu is more than just a collectible— it’s a must-buy doll for anyone who loves the thrill of blind box suprise. You won’t know which colour you’ll get until you unbox it. Although the price is not that pocket-friendly, starting from S$30, but that hasn’t stop it from skyrocketing in popularity. According to its creator, Kasing Lung, Labubu is portrayed as a character who owns a kind heart that loves helping out but keeps accidentally cause mortality. So complex but so cute!

Why is Labubu so popular?

Kevin Zhang, Pop Mart International’s head of strategic partnerships shares that Labubu’s rise is thanks to BLACKPINK’s Lisa. After she posted the pictures below on her IG story earlier this year, it turned into a meme that later caused Thailand to went wild. Many local celebrities, KOLs and even Thai Royal Family members hunted for this series, which is undeniably impactful.

Why are people obsessed with Labubu?

Labubu’s quirky and whimsical character has people lining up for hours, rushing into the store— the demand is real. And in Thailand, people even sell it on the street! Due to their high demand, it leads to quick sold outs. People would proudly show off their Labubu cute collection on their bags as a keychain, making a statement wherever they go.

Not quite. Inspired by Nordic mythology, Labubu is a smiling monster with high, pointed ears and serrated teeth.

Labubu is part of ‘The Monsters’ series. Created back in 2015, it is a series of a collective characters that are both good and evil. They consist of Zimomo, Tycoco, Spooky and of course, the fan-favourite— Labubu.

Where to buy Labubu in Singapore and how to tell if it’s real?

Labubu charms are available at Pop Mart Singapore stores and online marketplaces, but watch out for fakes. Purchase from trusted sources like the official Pop Mart website or reputable resellers. Labubu is definitely everywhere, so does the fakes. Pro tip: check for messy stitching, harsh fur, and their eyeballs’ colour. You should be able to find the QR code on the back of the figure’s box and scan to check the authenticity. Also, fake ones might have typos on the tag— do a thorough check after your unbox!
