Michelle Chia, 49, marries real estate boyfriend Jackson Chen. The couple celebrated their love in a romantic, intimate overseas ceremony on August 8, about one month before her 50th birthday this September.

A Love Story That Moved at Lightning Speed
Michelle’s wedding announcement sent waves through the local entertainment scene. The couple had only been dating for a little over two months before deciding to exchange vows. According to Michelle, neither had initially planned to marry so soon, but when the connection felt right, “it just happened naturally.” She calls this marriage the “most beautiful gift” ahead of her milestone birthday.
From Chance Meetings to Lifelong Commitment
Michelle Chia and Jackson Tan story stretches back nearly two decades. The first encounter happened in 2008 at a Mediacorp artiste lounge, though Michelle admits she doesn’t remember much from that day. They crossed paths again in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2020 that the friendship truly reignited. Hours-long conversations quickly revealed shared values, humour, and a deep sense of comfort—paving the way for romance.
An Auspicious Date for a Beautiful Beginning
The couple chose August 8 not just for convenience, but for its powerful symbolism. In Chinese culture, the number “8” is associated with wealth and prosperity, and in 2025, the date also coincided with the 15th day of the lunar calendar, another sign of good fortune. The outdoor wedding celebration was an intimate affair, with 40 of their closest friends and family in attendance.
This marks Michelle’s second marriage, following her first marriage with actor Shaun Chen from 2009 and ended on 2011. Honeymoon plans are currently on hold, as Michelle is busy with filming projects in Beijing and India. But she’s already looking forward to returning home to Singapore in time to celebrate her 50th birthday.
