These Are What The Most Stylish Celebrities Wore To The Met Gala 2023

These are our favourite looks for the Met Gala 2023

The Met Gala is akin to the Oscars of the fashion world. It’s the one night in a year where all the celebrities (and their stylists) put their every essence into creating the perfect look that’s in line with the theme of the year.

This year’s theme pays homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld and his legacy. It has been interesting to imagine just how these celebrities plan to interpret the theme into their outfits. Would they go the safe route and wear one of his vintage collections from brands that he has designed for, such as Chanel, Fendi, Tommy Hilfiger, and his eponymous label? Or would they dress in the same style that he so famously wore as his everyday uniform?

As the night progressed, it was exciting to see how everyone interpreted the theme. Some even went as far as channelling Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette. Actor Jared Leto showed up in a full cat costume (which he later changed out of), while rapper-singer Doja Cat wore cat face prosthetics while stunning in a fluffy, white, Oscar de la Renta dress. To stay in character, she only meowed to answers while being interviewed on the red carpet — an absolute mood.

Cat costumes aside, the red carpet was filled with celebrities dressed to the nines, and these are our most favourite looks.

Rihanna in Valentino

The media made their guesses, but they probably did not expect Rihanna to turn up in this all-white Valentino number.

Florence Pugh in Valentino

Now that Florence Pugh is officially a Valentino ambassador, we weren’t all too surprised to see that she wore the designer on the Met Gala red carpet. We’re not sure which element of this Valentino dress we love on her more, however: the plunging neckline or the feathered headpiece.

Nicole Kidman in Chanel

Wearing the same dress twice may be a faux pas to some stars, but Nicole Kidman gets off scot-free with this vintage Chanel dress. It’s not just any vintage Chanel as well — it’s the dress she wore in the original advertisement for the Chanel №5 back in the day. We love an icon.

Alton Mason in Karl Lagerfeld Couture

Alton Mason incorporates bridal elements into his lacey white outfit from Karl Lagerfeld Couture. We can’t decide which part of this outfit we love more — the lace corset is a vibe, as well as the lace-textured boots.

Teyana Taylor in Thom Browne

Teyana Taylor also combined Lagerfeld’s uniform and Chanel’s iconic tweed in this Thom Browne look, complete with the late designer’s famous sunglasses.

Dua Lipa in Chanel

One of the organisers for this year’s Met Gala, Dua Lipa dug deep into the archives for this corset tweed gown. If it looks familiar to the fashion fanatics, that’s because it was first modelled by supermodel Claudia Schiffer at the brand’s couture show in 1992.

Jenna Ortega in Thom Browne

The Wednesday Addams star channelled her character and went goth-inspired for this Thom Browne look.

Kim Kardashian in Schiaparellli Haute Couture

If pearls were synonymous with Chanel, Kim K. certainly went all out with this Schiaparelli Haute Couture outfit.

Ke Huy Quan in Dior

Jessica Chastain in Gucci

The redhead actress specifically went platinum blonde for the Met Gala, and it goes so well with the Gucci gown she’s in.

Sora Choi in Thom Browne

Naturally, we had to save the most dramatic for last. South Korean model Sora Choi showed up in this dramatic Thom Browne gown, whose tweed train was a whole outfit by itself.
