Leo just won the Oscars. Finally. Now the memes of him almost winning it can stop. Cue the memes of him winning the golden statue. A roundup of the Oscars is incomplete without taking a look at some of our favourite looks from Leo’s movies. Mad props to the movies’ costume designers and of course, his good looks.
I may be sore that neither Bryan Cranston nor Michael Fassbender won Best Actor, but that is water under the bridge. Congratulations to Leo for finally bagging the award after 22 years. Now let us begin the countdown:
5. Catch Me If You Can — Orange Shirt
This just proves that Leo can pull anything off, even a neon bright orange top. The vest certainly is reminiscent of the 50s. This look is kept simple by matching it with cream pants. If you ever want to look coordinated, pair your trousers with one of the colours from your striped shirt.
4. Blood Diamond — Jungle Trekker
If you are heading on a backpacking trip or if you have hiking planned in your itinerary, take some style tips from DiCaprio in this movie. This look is effortless and easy to replicate. All you need is a long sleeved shirt in khaki green and layer it over a tank top. Not a fan of cargo pants? Opt for jogger pants instead! Note: the goatee is a must.
3. Wolf of Wallstreet — Pinstripe Suit
It was difficult to pick which suit to feature. This movie is a treasure trove of blue suits and quirky ties which not only made the girls swoon but persuaded guys to invest in a tailored suit. The pinstripe will make you look and feel powerful.
2. Titanic — Suspenders
If you were not taken in by his charms in ‘Romeo + Juliet’, then this was the movie that got your hearts pumping. Leo in suspenders brought back a trend that was almost extinct. Him wearing it changed our perception of it forever. Today, you can class up the look with crimson suspenders, grey trousers and a bowtie for a formal event.
1. The Great Gatsby — Three Piece Suit
If you thought only Tom Hardy would look good in it, then this movie would have changed your mind. It was classy, sleek and made us all want to be Gatsby for Halloween. What I like about this look is the breakaway from the typical blacks ad greys. Coordinating the colours like a pro, the result is one dapper gentleman.
