Spring/Summer 2023 trends are looking surprisingly pared back this season — until you take a closer look.
Spring/Summer 2023 trends are looking surprisingly pared back this season — until you take a closer look. Quiet luxury is all the rage right now, and it’s obvious in the details of these trends. Just take Bottega Veneta, for example, and the simple blue jeans, white button-down shirt combo that went on the runway. It may look like a basic outfit, but the construction is extremely polished and luxurious. It’s a quintessential, if you know, you know situation for the Spring/Summer 2023 trends — and we’re going to dive right into it now.
Polished Grunge
Hang on to your flannels, because grunge is back in fashion — albeit a little more polished. Nuances of grunge were seen on the Spring/Summer 2023 runways, giving us a sartorial break from the bright 2000s and Barbiecore fashion. Balenciaga debuted forms of distressed denim, while Simone Rocha showcased punk-rock tulle with an attitude — very Avril Lavigne circa mid-2000s. Even Bottega Veneta took a piece of the grunge pie, showing off flannel shirts on the runway donned by none other than Kate Moss. Erdem, a classically feminine, also dabbled in some grunge with distressed hems.
However, there’s no need to go full-Nirvana with the newest iteration of grunge. Keep it polished with structured silhouettes like this Maje tweed dress layered under a Marciano leather jacket.
All That Glitters is Silver & Metallic
Silver has been dominating the SS23 runways, making its mark as the springtime metallic hue. Just look at Gucci’s pleated silver dress with the shoulder pads, balloon sleeves, and knotted skirt detail — very 70s. Michael Kors, too, showed off a sequinned silver maxi dress on the runway.
However, it doesn’t have to be just silver. Sequins and metallics were also very much the rage on SS23 runways. Yet, most shy away from the sparkles, but remember: you don’t need to reserve shiny outfits for special occasions. Life is too short, which is why you need this Twinset sequinned bronze dress in your wardrobe. This Giorgia Tully mini dress with cute floral sequins are also perfect for a day-to-night look — all you need to do is throw on an outerwear for the day look.

Getting Down with Button-Down Shirts
This wardrobe staple needs no introduction, yet it was seen often enough on the SS23 runways to deem it a burgeoning trend this season. Button-down shirts in classic white to blue striped and other iterations were seen at Prada, Etro, Dior, and more. Pair it with skirts, jeans, trousers — anything your heart desires, and it will look just as good. It’s no wonder that this is such a classic staple to have.
For a truly luxurious button-down white shirt, look no further than this Burberry Prorsum label shirt in a stark and crisp, Optic White shade. If you want a shirt with a twist, this ck Calvin Klein piece with pleated details will certainly deliver.

White Shoes
We all know that minimal white sneakers have been a wardrobe staple for the past few years. This season, we’re taking white sneakers out of focus and zoning in on white footwear. That’s right, there’s more to white footwear out there than just sneakers. Jil Sander, Bottega Veneta, Dries van Noten, and more brands showcased white shoes in their SS23 runway looks.
Inspired by that, we too, want to introduce some white footwear into your collection. These Ferragamo Gancini loafers are a sophisticated pair to have in your collection, while these Pollini slingback pumps will go great with any outfit, whether jeans or dresses. Want something casual for your next holiday? These Tory Burch Benton sandals are perfect.

Statement Earrings
If there’s one thing that will hardly go out of style, it’s statement earrings. This Spring/Summer 2023, revamp your collection of earrings with luxurious, high jewellery pieces that will definitely turn heads. Take these Amee Philips diamond earrings, for instance. The abstract vine design is elevated with blue sapphire and diamonds with white gold, making for a dainty yet sculpturally stunning piece.
We can’t get enough of these heart-shaped Tomei diamond earrings too, which take on the same icy tone throughout. These are versatile enough to be worn every day, yet they’re bold enough to stand out in your outfits. Another perfect example of the subtle-statement earring are these Mulia Jewellery white lily diamond earrings. They’re perfect for those looking who want a touch of femininity in their jewellery collection.
