Converse shoes are one of the most popular sneakers in Singapore, but do you know how to spot a fake?
If there is one iconic footwear brand that is easily recognized by the public, it is a pair of classic Converses. This American shoe company was founded in 1908 — that’s more than a decade — and has been around since serving the perfect pair of cool and comfortable shoes for your feet, either men or women.
The most popular model of them all is, of course, the Chuck Taylors. It is so popular that you can find them everywhere even if it is not from an official store. So, how do you differentiate an original from a fake one? Here are some tips that can help you tell which is which.
1. THE LOGO PATCHES
One obvious pointer whether the Converse is original or not is by its logo patches. The original should be in the inside of it and not out. It is also written in a navy blue colour, so any other shade of blue would be fake.
2. CHECK THE HEELS
Another signature feature of a Converse shoe is its rubber patch on the heel. There it should say CONVERSE and ALL STAR underneath it with a start in between them. Both words should be in a straight line and there should be no excess glue visible on it.
3. IN THE TONGUE
The tongue of it plays a huge role too to check its authenticity. In it, there will be a label that contains information about the shoe manufacturer, model number, shoe size, material of the shoe, QR code, and unique serial numbers for each shoe. If it is not there, then it is fake. The colour of the patch should be white too, so if it is other than that, you are buying the wrong one.
4. CONVERSE ON THE INSOLE
An original Converse should have the brand’s name on the insole of both sides of the shoe. Usually, it is in navy blue colour but white if the shoe is black. Also, it will not fade easily when you wear them out.
